Frequently
Asked Questions

Jungle Driving School in Brecksville, Ohio provides teen and adult driver education, including state-required Class D classroom and behind-the-wheel training. Our programs feature 24 hours of classroom instruction (available online or in-person) and 8 hours of hands-on behind-the-wheel driving lessons led by our certified driving instructors. We also offer custom packages featuring advanced driving techniques and extra in-car training hours tailored to your budget.

We do offer the 24 hours of classroom instruction online through a third-party partnership, which provides an online curriculum approved by the Ohio Department of Public Safety.

A proprietary Jungle Driving School online curriculum is in development and will be available at a later date.

Other than on observed holidays, our phone lines are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 7:00 pm and Saturdays, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Our behind-the-wheel driving lessons feature flexible scheduling outside of normal business hours—including early mornings, evenings, and weekends—to accommodate busy student schedules. Our in-person classroom schedules change seasonally; please click the “ENROLL NOW” tab to view current class times. Note that we do not always have someone physically in our office, so if you’d like to stop by the office for a tour or to meet the team, please call us to schedule an appointment.

Our main classroom outpost is located at 6910 Treeline Drive, Suite J, Brecksville, OH 44141. When you pull into the 6910 office complex, turn immediately left to drive along the front of the building; we are the end-cap unit at the far end. While all in-person driver’s ed classes take place at this Brecksville location, our instructors also offer convenient student home and school pickup for driving lessons throughout Cuyahoga County.

We are a premier Ohio licensed driving school with a proven, safety-first curriculum refined over 20 years. We help students master crash-prevention skills, defensive driving, and traffic laws through a fun, unforgettable, jungle-themed learning experience that keeps students engaged.

You can register online anytime by clicking our “ENROLL NOW” tab. You can also sign up over the phone by calling our office or visiting our Brecksville basecamp in person.

We accept major credit cards and debit cards via Stripe. Students who would like to pay via Zelle, bank transfers/debits, traditional paper checks, and cash payments can call our office to register and arrange payment.

We understand that learning to drive is an investment, and we want to make it as accessible as possible. We offer flexible payment options that allow you to spread the cost of your training packages over time. Contact our office to find a customized plan that fits your budget. Please note that all balances must be paid in full before your first behind-the-wheel lesson.

Any deposit paid to reserve enrollment is strictly non-refundable. Remaining tuition payments are refundable only if written cancellation is received at least fourteen (14) days prior to the student’s first scheduled class. No refunds will be issued within fourteen (14) days of the scheduled class start date or after classes have begun; however, students may transfer to a future class for a $50 administrative fee. Because we schedule our certified instructors and vehicles well in advance based on enrollment numbers, we cannot offer exceptions for changing schedules or personal conflicts.

You can begin classroom training at age 15 years and 5 months. To begin in-car lessons, you’ll need a valid Ohio Temporary Permit (TIPIC), which can be obtained at age 15 years and 6 months. Refer to the official Ohio BMV website for exact permit requirements.

State regulations require that if you use a single driving school provider for the combination of in-person classroom and behind-the-wheel lessons—specifically the 24 hours of classroom instruction and the 8 hours of behind-the-wheel lessons—it must all be completed within twelve (12) months of your very first class.

No. Ohio driver training regulations strictly mandate that students must successfully complete all 24 hours of classroom instruction before they can begin any behind-the-wheel training. The classroom course is designed for your safety, ensuring you learn the rules of the road in the classroom before applying them in the driver’s seat. Once your final classroom session is finished and passed, you will be cleared to begin your 8 hours of in-car lessons.

Our standard behind-the-wheel lessons are each 2 hours long. Per State of Ohio regulations, students are capped at a maximum of 3 hours of in-car driving instruction per day, and a maximum of 4 hours of total combined training (classroom + driving) in a single day.

We offer several enhanced packages that include additional behind-the-wheel lessons. We also have a la carte options to add behind-the-wheel lessons in increments of 2 hours. See the “ENROLL NOW” tab for further details.

Absolutely! Our patient, certified instructors specialize in teaching timid or anxious beginners. We do, however, encourage students with temporary permits to accomplish as much of the State of Ohio’s 50-hour driving requirement with an adult over age 21 prior to enrollment in a driver training program.

Students must bring their physical, valid Ohio Temporary Permit to every single driving lesson. Digital copies or photos are not legally accepted.

We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a driving lesson. Failure to do so will result in a fee of $25 if cancellation or rescheduling is done 24-48 hours prior to the scheduled lesson and $50 if cancellation or rescheduling is done less than 24 hours prior to the schedule lesson. If the student fails to appear for, or for any reason is not prepared to take, the scheduled lesson, including not having their driving permit on them, an additional fee of $100 will be incurred. We provide a 10-minute grace period if students are running late for a driving lesson; after 10 minutes, the no-show fee of $100 applies.

If you are running late, please notify our office or text your instructor directly through the Driveato app. Your lesson time may be shortened as a result. Arriving more than 10 minutes late will be treated as a student no-show and will incur the standard fee.

Per Ohio driver education regulations, students must accumulate 24 full hours of classroom instruction, meaning every missed minute must be made up. Our driving school classroom attendance policy handles absences and tardiness as follows:

  • Missing a full class: If you miss an entire session, you must make it up by attending that exact same numbered lesson (e.g., Session 3) on a different date when it is next available in our schedule.
  • Arriving under 15 minutes late: If you arrive less than 15 minutes late, you may stay for the class, but you must remain immediately following the session to make up the exact amount of time you missed with the instructor.
  • Arriving over 15 minutes late: Arriving more than 15 minutes late counts as a full absence. You will not receive credit for that day and will need to retake that exact session on a different date.

Yes, every instructor at Jungle Driving School is licensed by the State of Ohio, fully background-checked, and extensively trained in modern defensive driving techniques.

While we do not issue discounts directly, many major auto insurance companies offer a 10% to 15% premium discount to teens and adults who complete a state-certified driver education course. Contact your insurance provider to confirm their specific policies.

Yes, we offer specific upgraded packages that include use of a Jungle Driving School vehicle for your official Ohio BMV road test. Contact our office for pricing and availability.

Once you successfully complete all 24 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training, we will issue your official Certificate of Completion via email (or mailed upon request). You must present this physical certificate to the BMV examiner on the day of your road test to get your driver’s license.
